The anti-virus research laboratory of Kaspersky which published its new report, "Spam in the Third Quarter of 2010," outlines that although a number of huge sized botnets were taken down through coordinated operations during H2-2010 that shrunk the total spam worldwide, this shrinking was merely tentative.

States Kaspersky that during August-September, 2010 (Q3-2010), spam levels declined 1.5%. This, according to the company, is because of the shutdown of the Pushdo botnet's command-and-control (C&C) server during August 2010. Earlier Pushdo unleashed some 10% of the global e-mail junk.
