my laptop won't start. tried starting normally, and in safe mode. It will turn on, the microsoft corp logo displays and then the screen stays gray. I have a HP pavilion dv4 running windows vista.

Hi and welcome to GeekPolice.net

When you turn on your computer, press DEL key on your keyboard to enter BIOS setup.
Click on "Load Optimized Defaults" and press F10 to Save your changes.
