Even though most people in a new Computerworld survey said they will adopt the new server OS, migration will be gradual

(Computerworld) It may look like Windows Vista. It shares the same code base as Vista. It even rolls in Vista's first Service Pack. But in terms of customer adoption plans, Windows Server 2008 is no Vista.

A new Computerworld survey shows that 63% of the 403 respondents plan to adopt Microsoft's new server operating system. (You can read more extensive survey results here.) This contrasts with the intention of some IT organizations to skip Vista entirely and move directly to Windows 7 on the desktop. According to an online survey of 372 IT professionals conducted by Sanford C. Bernstein in May, companies expect just 26% of their PCs to be running Vista by the beginning of 2011, down from an estimate of nearly 68% of computers based on a similar survey a year ago.

"I haven't seen any shadow of Vista being cast over Windows Server 2008," says John Enck, analyst at Gartner Inc. Most industry watchers, in fact, agree that deployment is not a matter of if, but when and where. .........

in terms of customer adoption plans

This is true because:
MS let Vista take the flak for its introduction but once the third party developers were up to speed, then they released Win Server 2008 which is basically Vista throughout the kernel adapted for server operations!

As you should....I'm always happy to hear that there are some 'switched on' users out there enjoying the Vista experience!
Now that the initial teething problems are sorted, the Vista ball is rolling thick n fast now.

I can't even remember where i put my XP disc anymore.....and you know what?
I dont give a crap either.
Ahahaha

Gee, all those genius 'Vista knockers' seem to have gone a bit quiet these days Let me think

Vista is a wonderful OS, but i sincerely hope that MS show a bit more 'brain matter' with the awaited release of Windows7.

Sorry, just love to get my 2cents in after fighting the masses for all this time and say, I told you so! Cheesy Grin (sparkly

All that depends on what you have loaded!

I have a desktop Pentium4 2.6ghz with 1 gig of DDR2 667mhz that runs Vista Ultimate very nice.

Remember the key.......run your OS lean and mean.
ie. Dont overload it with garbage you dont need or use, clean your cashe's & temp files regularly and look after your registry Cheesy Grin (sparkly

thats the secret that most dont realize (its human nature to download and install everything we see or can access). keep it lean guys...... Cheers Mate
