I am posting this on my laptop as my desktop computer is messed up. Problem seemed to start with a fake virus program . Then we kept seeing pop-ups for porn.com. Now the computer will not log on to the internet at all. Previously running malwarebytes got rid of the problem- it then reappeared. Now running virus program or Malwearbytes comes up with nothing. Any suggestion to solve this other than wiping hard drive clean would be appreciated.

Hello.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

I can not download anything because I can not connect to the internet. it says Windows can not connect to internet using HTTP,HTTPS,or FTP. This is probaly caused by firewall settings. Check port80,443, and 21. I do not know how to check this. My virus program will not update either. I was able to somehow update Malwearbytes and it found 7 things and eliminated them but still won't connect to the internet. I am using my laptop right now. Problem is on my desktop computer.

Try this.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

    In Internet Explorer
  1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

    In Firefox
  1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
  2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.

Can you download OTL now?
