DVD-/+RW burning problems

Hi, I have a Philips CD/DVD-/+RW. I have always used RW-able discs. But the problem I have started to get is, My RW-able discs won't. At least not all of them. The discs that I use are Memorex, ASDA, Philips, Maxell, in fact any that I can afford. I have cleaned them using a disc doctor, I have also tried a scratch remover. But to no avail. They will not format/erase. Has anyone any idea what could cause this, and what is the cure?????

Most of the time, for discs that will no longer write, they usually have a lifespan of 10-20 writes, then they need trashed.

However, if you have only written on them four or five times, and it denies you to write on them, then your drive needs to go through some diagnostics to see if there is an error in the writer, or it is not communicating properly with your computer.
