help with black screen

when i boot up all i have is a black screen (no cursor).
i can go through the motions of going into safe mode, but it stops with the last entry being:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys

for the last few days before this i have been attempting to get the antivir solution pro off my machine. using malwarebytes and rkill seemed to help. then had to deal with the generic host process for win32 services shutting everything down. everything worked for a day (still had firefox loading new browsers on its own, but only occasionally).

i have windows xp home edition with service pack 3. i use mozilla firefox but also have IE.

Do you have your Windows install disk? There is a repair function when you run the disk. Sounds like you have some corrupt drivers.
