Lost Sound on laptop

Just recently I lost the soundon our laptop; not sure why or how. I have clicked on the programs and nothing is visiable for me to change etc. It simply appears as if it was deleted or removed. I have an Acer Travelmate any suggestions would be great.

I would recommend to either try to update the sound driver, or reinstall it.

• To update your sound driver, you may go to Device Manager which can be located from the Control Panel.
  
• Open the drop down arrow for Sound, video and game controllers and this will show the audio device installed on your computer.
  
• If it needs updating you can right-click on the name of the audio device and select Update Driver Software...

For reinstalling, go to the Acer Driver Download page and select the model of your laptop to locate the suitable audio driver to install.
