How do i make the sound work on my fujitsu siemens p15-1 monitor?

a friend gave me his pc but the sound wont work on the monitor speakers....i plug in headphones in the back of the pc tower and the sound works, in device manager under "monitor" it just says plug and play device....do i need to install a driver to make the sound work? as i really dont want to have to spend money on pc speakers.....PLEASE HELP...

Did you check Sound settings ? If you didn't, please do it. Double click on little speaker tray icon near your clock, check setting you'll find inside.

yeah i checked my settings its defo not that.....been at it for about 3 hours now and still not found anything helpful

Check cables of your speakers, if that don't help you, you'll have to spend some money for new one.

well i got fed up and bought speakers but now im having another problem...the sound is echoing and has low bass...i think my mother messed it up when she messed around with settings when she tried to get the monitor sound working ( mothers aye...). i noticed straight away the sound was echoing after she was on my pc, i just thought my headphones was playing up but now i have got speakers im having the same problem..i have tried the obvious stuff...muted mic, gone through sound and audio devices in control panel and set everything to default. (my audio program thing is "c media 3d") but i am still having the same problem pleae help me as this is doing my head in!!
