I am cleaning up my bosses laptop after a virus hit it. He currently runs Symantec Endpoint Protection but that is set to expire in 60 days. He is older, so needs something easy to use (maybe even something they don't have to mess with at all?)

Any recommendations?

He is running Windows XP on a 2 year old HP laptop.

Thanks in advance!

Jackie

Would it be for commercial use? If you want to go for a paid version, I would recommend either Kaspersky or ESET.

For a free alternative, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. It simply sits there and does not disturb you.

This is his personal computer - they are both in their 70's and don't even know what the toolbar is (trust me, I asked). I have the Microsoft program on my home PC so I'll probably try that.
What else can I put on their computer to try to keep it safe? Firewall? etc...
Thanks!
Jackie

Microsoft Security Essentials is probably good enough. Maybe you can also install Malwarebytes and do regular scans.

That is what I was thinking as I fell asleep last night...just have him bring it in regularly for some "maintenance".

Thanks so much!
