I have an old computer that hasn't been used in a long time. Whenever you put the power cord in and the cord to the monitor, the computer turns on, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can hear the fan running inside the computer and I can feel the air coming from the fan. The monitor does work, I use it on my other desktop. What could the issue be?

do you hear the hard drive spinning?

you could try opening up the casing and removing the CMOS battery for a minute or so then putting it back in, or even replacing the battery altogether if it's a really old system. once its back in turn the computer on and see if it starts up then

Hi,

You need to check whether there is any problem with your system or your monitor try checking with any other computer, If the monitor light blink but it doesn't turns up mean there is some problem in the video signal from the CPU. If the Monitors light are not coming on then you need to try your system with some other monitor. As it is them expected to be problem with your monitor. In your Operating system also check out whether the drivers for the monitors are installed properly. You can find it in the devicemanager. Type "devmgmt.msc" in the run.

Is the graphics chip on the motherboard, or is it on a PCI card?

It is integrated. I removed the ram, turned it on, and still nothing. I put the ram back in after it being out, and still nothing. But 1 question, is it normal to have only 1 RAM stick?

Hi,
It is normal for old motherboards. I suggest you to turn off that old monster and put motherboard in garbage. Your integrated GPU is probably dead, buy new one, i mean new motherboard. Start your computer from begin.
