server not found at toolbar.ask.com no web connection

I have a problem with firefox. Everytime I attempt to connect to the internet I get the error message "can't find the server at toolbar.ask.com. I have a cable modem web connection with a local cable provider.I am guessing I picked up some virus. Since I am unable to connect to the internet at all I am using a neighbors computer to contact you. I won't be able to download anything directly. I will save it to a thumb drive and load it on my infected pc. Appreciative as always!

after some diagnostic work with my web provider i found out my ip address has been removed. don't know if this will help.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

• Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  
• Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  
• It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  
• You may need to use two posts to get it all.

how do i get the otl to download to a jump drive? everytime i try to download it it wants to install onthe laptop im using to access the web. the pc that is infected cant access any web pages and i need to download programs to a jump drive. then to the infected pc

I think the problem is resolved. more and more i think that it had something to do with my internet carrier. Idon' t know for sure but its working again and i didn't do anything other than contact them and you guys. Thanks for your help. you guys rock!
