If that is the best thing, that is what we can do. She just had bought it, but I can tell her it needs to go.

Does Mcaffe cause a lot of problems? If so, should I set her up with Avira or something similar?

I still cannot connect to the internet, but that may be unrelated?

What is the best method to get rid of Mcafee completely, and what should I run after that?

I appreciate all of your help!

Hello.
See here:

A recent bug in Mcafee caused a false detection that deleted svchost.exe off machines, and your machine here has Mcafee, and svchost is missing, so I am thinking Mcafee caused this.

We'll remove Mcafee with Avira, let me know when Mcafee is uninstalled.

I will do this when I get back in town Friday night. Thank you, and I'll let you know when it is removed.

Hello.

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) Antivir PersonalEditionClassic
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Do you have any experience with using a boot disc? we may need to temporarily boot from a Linux OS.

I do not have experience with a boot disk. Antivir downloaded and scanned. Also re-ran Malwarebytes.

Can't tell if the above log means all clean, or if I need to run other programs to verify.

Malware bytes shows no problems. Should I run other programs too?
