Hello,

Both ESET and Avira are good products. You can drop Norton for a free alternative such as Avira. If you prefer paid security software, ESET or Kaspersky are one of the two worthy products I would get my hands on.

It's not that Norton is bad, Norton has good detection ratings malware wise, it's just a little aggressive on the false positive side of things when it comes to malware removal.

Plus, Norton is resource heavy and likes to use quite a bit of your memory, which is why we recommend Avira more often than not.

Refer to Docs post.

I just wanted to say that I just had a client who had Norton 2010 Antivirus in stalled on a new desktop that got infected with the Antisoft virus and after doing a scan Norton did not even detect it. I had to remove it manually. It could have been that the customer was running 64 bit Windows 7, I am starting to supect that to be the case but I cant prove it. After removal we reinstalled windows 7 and Norton but with a family filter (K9 Web Protection)to help block some of the sites and tracking cookies. I am not one of the experts just someone learning as I go.

Norton is a resource hog. I uninstall Norton on every computer I get my hands on. If you don't want to pay, try out Avast. If you find you really like Avast you can upgrade to their paid product which will give you more protection and features.

If you are going out to buy a replacement. I would go with Kaspersky. I have about 25 notebooks running Kaspersky and haven't had any complaints. (My users are not very computer savvy, which gives credit to the programs ease of use)

People seem to like Bitdefender but I have found most people have a hard time with using it correctly.
