I picked up a virus/malware last night. It looks like a antivirus scan (antispyware-soft.com) is being run and declares every program I try to run is infected and blocks it. It wants me to go online to buy it's scanner. It starts by telling me wuauclt.exe is infected and can't run program... window pops up every 30 sec reminding their is a infection and every several minutes attempts to run a fake "virus scan". I am running in safe mode using firefox. I tried to go to safety.live.com and run a scan. IE and Safari can't connect to the internet (needed to turn off proxy server options). If I could get IE to connect, then I could run with safety.live.com. Firefox has to have an IE add on to run with safety.live.com, which isn't out for Firefox 3.6.3 which I am using. I have run AVG free, Spybot, and cwshreder, and ad-aware, no real problems discovered. I noticed there is a brief opportunity to get a program running (normal mode) after booting before malware gets control and blocks it.
Thanks, kip
Problem solved - goto malware removal guides, malware url's, antispyware-soft.com this site and use malwarebytes antivirus program to remove the offending malware.
