A friend of mine gave me his pc to work on. Said his os wouldn't run (had worked previsiously). Tried replacing his hard drive. The new hard drive would only operate Windows 2000. Wouldn't run Windows XP. I had to go online (with another pc) and retrieve all the drivers. Installed drivers and got the blue screen of death. Will not reload any Windows programming now.
It was running and now she's dead again... Let me think

Any suggestions?
Thank You!
Pepper

Whoa!

That computer is not very old, three years or something. WINXP should run on that. What went wrong?
WIN2000, well, I´d rather not touch that.

The hard disk has been formatted using Windows 2000. Simply formatting the drive using another OS disc, should allow it to set up a new MBR and re-organize the partition table, in order for it to install.
