I think I might really be stuck here. My laptop is infested with Personal Security malware courtesy of my kid. I have tried running Hijack this, OTL, etc and they won't run because it appears that admin access has been claimed by the malware. Well, Hijack this runs but won't write to a log file(says write access denied) and the program won't finish completely.

When I try and reboot in safe mode, it won't let me. It appears the malware shuts down safe mode as it comes up and reboots the computer in regular mode. I have an Acer Aspire 5516 and one choice pressing f8 that did work was "repair computer" but there is very limited things one can do in this mode it appears. There is one choice to go back to the factory defaults from when the computer was brand new, but I have not tried that as I have read trying to back to past setups might make things worse.

I have read about this all day and nothing I have tried is allowed as admin access is gone I think. I really need this thing off the laptop but am at a standstill. I can't even run the programs I read are recommended through the USB drive I am using to transfer the downloaded programs to the laptop.

It will not run. It said initially "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the file. When I tried to change access some in the "details" of the file, I click it, Windows asks for permission to run the file. I grant it, but it still does not run.

Downloaded this and made the CD. Unfortunately, I forgot to go into the BIOS first before trying to use this and make the CD ROM the first to boot. I could never get this to boot from CD.

However, as I was searching for other programs of this type, I finally found the solution believe it or not. I found a message from someone who actually wrote these jokers about the program They gave them the place to uninstall it. I figured since my laptop was already in a bad way nothing was going to hurt it more so I tried it. It worked! This is what was pointed to(I did not copy this exactly exact so this might not be 100% right):

Program Files/Common Files/PSecurityUnistall/Uninstall.lnk

Right after I was told this was successful, I was able to run programs again. I ran Malawarebytes and two other anti-spyware and anti-virus programs and all seems to be well. If I had not been searching for other anti-virus boot programs I would not have found the ultimate solution, so thank you.
