I'm just jumping in here - a computer novice & brand to to this site - checking your opinions
regarding my presently installed security system's effectiveness.
I downloaded "Blink" aka eEye for protection. A friend recommended it as
being good. Anyone here agree? Comments appreciated. Thanx

I would go for a more reputable security software such as Avira or Avast. Never head of that brand before.

Thank you for your response. eEye Blink Personal has a firewall, antivirus and spyware in the program. I just looked it up on a CNET review and it looked okay. A friend downloaded and installed the program for me, so I have no clue how to uninstall it in order to download a different program, nor the risk to my computer while doing so. I've joined this group to gain self confidence, but I have a long way to go.

Thanks again for your comments.

I have been using Eeye Blink personal for about 3 years now. It is surprising to see it was not recognized by the admin above. I highly recommend that you try it out mr Admin. It has an editable config file, and a more tunable firewall than any other security software. As for the original poster, I recommend you use something else. This software was designed for people who have an interest in computer security. From your experience it is probable that you might enjoy AVG, or Avast better. Uninstallation is easy, I highly recommend you google it, or use the help file in your operating system.

Interesting, I have a few questions though. How long have Eye being going? I too haven't heard of that one before, and where are they based?

As for AVG, AVG sucks, it's known for many false positives and corrupting itself, then wont uninstall properly when that happens. Not even the AVG uninstaller is able to fully shift it once it has messed itself up.

Ever since AVG detected itself as a trojan when I used it several years ago, I never touched it again. The heuristics system they use are simply... ugh!

I've been sticking to Kaspersky Internet Security ever since and am very glad with it. I would also recommend it and ESET to people looking for paid security solutions.

For Belahzur: http://tinyurl.com/yj3g5sh

Kapersky would be my choice after Blink, but if you don't want to pay: AVG rates well below, and from personal experience it's decent and most importantly simple (for those with uninstall problems); Avira also does a good job, but little experience with that here.
here is some info. The root can bring more info, but these are the most important tests: % virus recognized, false positives, and performance.

I'm somewhat confused - if eEye Blink is good, then why would I want to
go to AVG or Avast? Though my knowledge is very limited, the man who recommended "Blink" to me is VERY knowledgeable. The program is installed on my computer and seems to be doing a good job. Is there more I need to know? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you.

This thread is amazing... =)

Alright, I only recommended the others, for their ease of use on the premise you were not happy with Eeye.

If it works, and you like it, I recommend it.

I think I am the only one with experience with Blink here, and I can say I have been a very high risk for malware, rootkits, and viruses galore and I have never had a problem. The firewall has allowed me to block every application integral or otherwise from accessing anything I don't want to be bothered by (updates, subscription reminders, or registration ect.....)

Getting infected with malware shouldn't be much of a problem as long as we practice safe-surfing. 😉
