Hello,

I am having a problem with a windows logon / log off loop. I had gotten the Internet Security 2010 problem with my computer. I uses spy bot ot try and remove this from the computer. When it asked to restart the computer, it put me into the loop problem. I was told to put the xp disk into the computer and boot from the cd rom. I did that and it was trying to log on and would flash a blue screen and start all over with the same problem. I tried using some directions that were posted on this website using the recovery console to try and fix the problem. When it told me the computer would restart, it is comes to a black screen and tells me that the file is missing or corrupt. Use the disk and try to repair this issue. I looked at this option but it was asking about particians and i was not sure. Can you please help me to try and get this fixed. I apologize for posting on some one else's topic.

I apologize for double posting. I thought I placed it in the wrong section the first time. This is why I made a second posting of the same thing. Again I apologize. I have read the guide for new users and will try to follow the rules.

Thank you.

Does it say which file is missing or corrupt?

When you try to star the computer is is telling me that :

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

Hello,
I was able to make a disc of Avira, but now when I try to put the disc in the computer and boot from the CD it brings me back to the black page that says Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair

Hmm, I wonder why it isn't starting the repair.

Do you have anything to lose? we could try a format instead?
