My computer (Which is MAC running Both Windows and Mac operating systems) will not start up into Windows XP after a virus infected my computer last week.

The computer will start into MAC okay but when i try to go into Windows side it wont start up - i tried starting in safe and recovery mode but get a message appearing that says

'a problem has been detecting and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer'

'UNMOUTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME'

'Technical information***STOP: (000000ED (0X89A20C08, 0XC000014F, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)' .

How do i rectify this problem could someone please step me through re-installing the Windows operating system if this is what is needed and let me know if it is possible to retrieve all of my Data that was on it?? ( It is my work computer Let me think )

Thanks!!

Any Help would be appreciated!!

Hello,

If your XP disc is the retail version, then you will be asked to boot from the CD at boot up, press any key to do so when the message appears at the bottom of the screen. Then will be two options to format and repair XP. Choose repair.

Hello,

1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Just closed the System restore window and a message asking for regional and language options came up...

Does this mean that it is starting my system from scratch and all of my info has been lost??? If this is so, is there no hope of getting all info that was on my computer back??

Thanks for all of your help....

Hello,

A repair won't remove your files it only fixes the operating system files. Are you able to boot properly into Windows now?
