URGENT Black screen

I turned on my computer and the screen just stays black. it is out of warranty by a month. I tried everything. it sounds like it wants to run but it doesn't even go into my wireless being on. What can I do please help...I need my laptop. I read something about a spoiled screen? what does that mean and how do i fix it?????

Do you see any loadup stuff like the motherboard information screen or the loading screen? If not your monitor is broken and it's a hardware issue meaning you will have to get a new one or get it fixed.

Since it's a laptop you could try plugging it into an external display using the VGA output, this will require a VGA cable which looks like this

and if that works we'll know it's a hardware issue
