Hi! Love the forum, thanks greatly. Unfortunately I've come across a virus that I cannot beat for the first time. It's affects are peculiar and I will outline them:
- Chrome: Blocked
- Microsoft I Explorer: Blocked
- MSN Messenger: Blocked
- Yahoo IM: Blocked
- Magic Jack: Blocked now, initially not blocked
- Malware Bytes:It can run, but I cannot update the library unless I am in Windows Safe mode
- Spybot:It can run, but I cannot update the library unless I am in Windows Safe mode
- AVG:It can run, but I cannot update the library unless I am in Windows Safe mode
- Firefox: Works perfectly, EXCEPT - I cannot upload images in the current version of Gmail, I can in the old, same with Yahoo mail
The magic jack issue came up later, I cleared up & reset the registry, reset my winsock entries using "netsh winsock reset catalog"
The strangest thing about all of this is that everything can run perfectly (chrome, ms iexplorer) in windows safe mode, but not in standard mode. If anyone has run across this before I'd love to hear what you might suggest. Worse comes to worse, I will partition my system and start to run off of Linux (I'd prefer the increase security anyways, but this just gives me the reason to convert since I've been too lazy to do it in the past)
Thanks in Advance!
