cannot download operating system

friend gave my son a computer that he erased the hard drive completley,tryed to put xp disk in and it omly gives me message to remove disk or media and press any key to restart but it does nothing just keeps giving me that message how do i restore this computer

Kindly Check Wethere floopy is insterted in floppy drive or not . if it is plz remove and second kindly check that wethere hardisk is detected in the bios or not as this error is either for floopy or hardisk detection

i did both of those things no floppy disk in and i stilcannot do anything keep getting same messagevery wierd

When you start computer, press DELETE on your keyboard to enter BIOS mode.

Go to Boot Sector, and change this options to look like this:
Primary Slave - CD/DVD Rom
Secondary Slave - Hard Disc

Save it with F10 and press Y as Yes.

Put your Windows CD in CD/DVD Drive and try to install windows.

when i turn on computer i get option to press F2 or F12 for boot menu i press setup i get info as follows

It says press esc to set up then it tells to remove disk and press any key to restart and thats all i get am i missing something I know it is older but i am confused why i cannot do anything to this computer thanks fo any help u can give me
