Malware Defense has got me down, but not defeated

Hello Geek Police and thanks for making your services available to us who need help! My PC is infected with Malware Defense. Im using a Sony VIAO PC with Windows XP home edition. The MD crap started popping up just yesterday. My version of MD seems to be the version that places 3 porn link icons on my desktop. Also as the crap MD pop-ups start to appear I hear audio ads play occasionaly ( I think the last one was for Buick?) . My IE browser still works, but Im afraid to use it, for fear of what information might be comprimised in the background while Im using it, so for now I have unplugged my internet connection to that computer. I ve been a user of Malwarebytes Anti-malware for the past 6 months already, and I thought I would simply run MBAM to get rid of it, but since Ive had the MD infestation , MBAM wont open. I was told to go to safe mode, and to try and run/update MBAM there, but when I select safe mode , the screen just blinks and goes back to the prior dos type screen, I tried all 3 safe mode selections, and nȯne of them are working. I also tried to use sytem restore, and it is not working either, seemingly blocked by MD. So.... I was hoping you could tell me what to do to fix my problem. Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that.

i was not able to download combofix onto my infected machine, so I downloaded it onto this laptop , and while downloading it macaffee said that it blocked the trojan artemis? Then I copied the combofix.exe file to a flash drive and then loaded that file from the flash drive to the infected computers desktop, then when I clicked on it to run it, nothing happened. appears to be blocked from working.

McAfee probably damaged it. Disable McAfee first, re-download it and transfer it.
