firewalled

Im sitting on my home computer but my laptop isnt working the way I want it to. I can connect to the internet i have checked it. When i click on EI it says cant connect and when i try firefox it comes up blank. Id really be greatful for all the help thanks.

do you get a response if you ping a web address?

My internet is working now but idk how it started all i did was what the admin said to type the restart.log thing in cmd and now it works.
