So far I have been unable to run Lavasoft Ad-aware (hey, its free) and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Porn pops up. My computer is sloooowwww. And annoying pop-ups about my computer at risk. I know this will all lead to that company trying to push 'security' software.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

My computer does not run the re-named file you sent. The computer screen did flash something briefly though.

Please download exeHelper from one of the two links.
Link 1
Link 2

  • Double-click on exeHelper.com or exeHelper.scr to run the fix.
  • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
  • Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

I downloaded exehelper.com file and ran it.
A black popup window appeared, as you said. Then promptly disappeared.
I received another pop up 'Application cannot be executed. The file exehelper.com is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?

A log.txt file was kinda created, before things flashed away on their own. I am unable to post this file in 'Normal' mode, *.txt file is elusive and flashes away.
Should I run the exeHelper.como in Safe mode?
Do you want me to try to send the log.txt from Safe mode?

Thanks.

This is different.
When I ran the exeHelper.scr (still in normal mode) , that program tried to open my notepad, then was promptly shut down.
I then got the popup ' Application cannot be executed. The file notepad.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your anitvirus software now?'

I also ran Malwarebytes 2 times in safe mode. The log files are attached.
I use my computer for work, so I am 'floating helplessly' until this popup thing is solved.

Hello.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

    In Internet Explorer
  1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

    In Firefox
  1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
  2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555
    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [apepexkd] C:\Documents and Settings\michele\Local Settings\Application Data\cnifpa\oflpsysguard.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [apepexkd] C:\Documents and Settings\michele\Local Settings\Application Data\cnifpa\oflpsysguard.exe

I still get an error when I run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Message: 'An error occurred. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware support team.

Error code: 732 (0,0)

Good news. I was able to run HiJackThis in normal mode. I was unable to do this before.

Shall I run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode?
