(bump) Can't update any programs.

Hi. I'm having trouble updating programs. Malwarebytes can't update definitions and a game crashes when it tries to download the new patch. I ran a Karspersky recovery disk from boot and it found a few things which I deleted, but it's still not updating. Other than that my internet is working fine it seems. Tried Winsockxp fix, but it didn't do anything.

I had a problem with my connection a few days ago and I got help in this forum. I don't know if this new problem could be related to it. Hello.
Do the following, then MBAM will update fine.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

In Internet Explorer

1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
   

In Firefox

1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
   
2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.

hey thanks for your help. I don't know how that got changed, but I did the steps and it's working now. I didn't have antivirus cause I uninstalled AVG right before the log, because I thought that maybe it was conflicting with malwarebytes and it wasn't letting it update.

One question, I have comcast cable and I get McAfee with the package, should I install that one or should I install the Avira one you recommend?

No, keep Mcafee since it comes with your internet package, it's just that Mcafee can be a resource hog and is a lot of the time, an answer to why a machine is slow.
