Hello.

Today I got a nasty virus on my computer that I cannot fix. After seeing the screengrab of the fake antivirus program and also noticing a spelling error in the popup box from the program in the tray, I now know it is a virus!

Here is what is happening...

The fake scan program loads and says I have all these things wrong with my computer. Another box opens to the bottom right and says BankerFox and at other times, Nuqel.E, is trying to attack my computer. All these error boxes pop on my computer when I try to open something saying things like the file verclsid.exe is infected, etc. Also, fake porn sites are popping up.

It won't let me open AVG and IE cannot access the internet even though my wireless is on.

I'm not very good with system files and without the internet this may be tricky, but I need some serious help. Please help me!

I also ran AVG in Safe Mode and that didn't work. Nor did trying to put Bit Defender on because it needed to access the Internet. I don't think internet access happens either in safe mode.

Please give me detailed instructions... I appreciate this greatly.

Rename ComboFix.exe to commy.exe before you save it to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found here
  • Click Start>Run then copy paste the following command into the Run box & click OK "%userprofile%\desktop\commy.exe" /stepdel
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
