Did I go mad, or is something not quite right?

[And can someone PLEASE tell me how to get untainted / original copies of the two drivers I need for my laptop's Keyboard? What have I got TO DO to be able to get copies of the two original drivers from Microsoft for my Keyboard? Do I have to buy MICROSOFT?! No, I don't have a Windows XP disc for my laptop; the meanies who put my laptop package together couldn't manage a disc, but there are rumours the equivalent of an XP Installation Disc are hȋdden somewhere on my main drive, mysteriously called 'partitioned'. Could I get copies of the original two Keyboard Drivers from the secret, partioned part of my drive? Oh, help!! I am going bonkers!! Why are things SO hard at times? Yeesh. WHY is it so hard to get two, GOOD drivers, just so I can try them, and see if they make a difference.]

About the suspected possible Trojan/s, and/or, Rootkit .......

My Space Key keeps acting very strangely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't .... and it feels odd.

And, since the 'Outer-Space' Space Key symptom started two weeks ago, I recall that soon after starting to use my new laptop - three years ago - I noticed (mostly only in MS Outlook Mail program) that words I was sure I had typed appeared as quite a different word on the screen ... as if a programme was substituting certain words for other words of similar characters and similar length, often with a negative meaning. This created a sentence which had quite a different meaning from what I intended, and this 'rogue' sentence looked pretty mad and daft.

Various programmes have reported rumours of: HackerWacker and TrojanDropper.

HELP ..... HAVE YOU ANY IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON??

Maybe nothing's going on .... maybe I went mad without realising it. (I hope not.)

Thanks.

Hijack this deleted / fȋxed the two entries.

Yesterday, an AV programme deleted several viruses from an external drive. They had been there some time. I think they (one was a backdoor) originated several not-so-serious, but frustrating, changes to my PC ... such as the weird typing and missing spaces situation.

Typing is better. Just occasionally, the space key doesn't function. I think there may still be some gear with associated sneaky processes hȋdden somewhere.

Here is the MBAM scan log .....

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2
1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to svchost as follows:

POLICE! Something's gone wrong... Trojan and/or Rootkit? CF_download_FF

POLICE! Something's gone wrong... Trojan and/or Rootkit? 2aflf5z

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.

  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on svchost.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouse click combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
