What is Firefox?

What is Firefox? Mozilla? Is is like Internet Explorer and is it better or safer?

They are both web browsers. Mozilla is the company which owns Firefox. And Internet Explorer is another browser. Firefox is of course much faster and secure than Internet Explorer.

Firefox includes tabbed browsing, spell checking, live bookmarking (and RSS), a download manager, private browsing, and a search box to add unlimited sites to search.

The best part about Firefox is that it allows third-party add-ons. This makes the browser more personalized, and much more "at home" to spark your interests.

Can you have Firefox and IE on the same computer. Some of my software for work dont support Mozilla/ Firefox as the browser. So can I use that when surfing around the internet since it seems to be safer and then close Firefox and use IE for work programs?????

By the way - looks like you are around Dayton. I've got 2 sons at University of Dayton. Are you in school there or just naturally a genius at this stuff?

Firefox and IE can be on the same computer. You can use both of them at one time, as well. They work well.

I do not rate myself, but I am considered a malware expert and researcher. Also, a computer tech guru. I am in school for Visual Communications, but not at UD.

Firefox is like Internet Explorer--u use it to browse the web. Many feel it is safer than Internet Explorer, & I for 1 happen to agree. It doesn't usually take up as much memory, either, & therefore tends to be faster. U will probably need to get some add-ons to use it w/a lot of sites, e.g., adobe flash, Acrobat reader, perhaps Quicktime, etc. I know this--a couple weeks ago I went to a site using Firefox & it screamed bloody murder that the site contained malware. I didn't get infected. My daughter, just last night, using Internet Explorer, went onto an infected site & we're gonna have to do a complete repartition, reformat, & reinstall of windows.
