Yesterday I insalled my satalite card ( and what a carry on that was) but it works like a charm now that I have it configured.

Anyway the problem I am now having is when I turn on my PC (from shut down) the windows 7 loading bar scrolls along like usual then the screen goes black and all HDD activity stops, the PC has crashed before booting into windows properly.

I press reset button (on the tower) an then windows boots fine, it just does it when it's turned on fresh. I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.

I know it's the TV card because it only does it when it's in. The card is not faulty.

It's PCI.

I have 2 pci ports on the M/B I have tried swapping them round but it makes no difference which one it's in.

Any one got any ideas?

Hi

Probably a resource fault.

Do you know which slots have the priority or are those filled?

If not, then try to remove the card and place it in a different slot. Do this as many times as needed, to cure the problem. If not that, then the bus is dirty. That will ask for a small brush to the grooves, to clean the dirt out.

not sure which has priority, i only have 2 PCI and the rest are PCI-e

i didnt even think of cleaning it, and with the amount of dust that comes from the parrot, it should have been one of the first things i thought of.

i guess when you have spent many hours (nearly 2 days to be exact) trying to get something that should be simple to work. you tend to stop thinking of the easier/ more obvious solutions, and keep repeating your self. LOL

thanks DMJ i will give it a clean today

I only managed to clean it today as I thought I would wait for my new case before I did it.

It worked, all it needed was a good clean Big Grin

cheers
