I think this morning I caught a strange virus on my computer. It was very early in the morning and I turned my monitor on for the day and I found a pop up on there for an update to Adobe Acrobat, I clicked off it not thinking anything. Then I was on the internet at a site I normally go to when all of sudden adobe acrobat 6 launched. I started getting error messages about memory. I shut everything down as fast as I could, rebooted the computer but when everything booted up my keyboard and mouse no longer worked. I see my desktop, but I cannot click on anything at all. HELP! I find nothing on the internet about this and being a total noob I am at a lost as to what to do!

Thank you in advance for any help and advice you may give. Thank You!

Please do the following in Safe Mode with Networking: as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode with Networking" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.) Once in the start up menu, select "Safe Mode with Networking", do your mouse/keyboard work in safe mode?

I got called into work, so I will give this a shot when I get back home. I am assuming you want to see if I can get out to the net at all?

Thank you again for all your help and advice!

ok, I got home and tried to boot up in safe mode with networking, I was trying to run AVG when I got this "windows police pro" pop up and it acted like it was clearning the system of viruses, everything simply locked up and now the system will not boot up in safe mode at all, I just get a black screen with safe mode written in white in the corners.

HELP!

Damn.
This time on the F8 menu, choose "Last Known good configuration" rather than safe mode.
Choose XP, see if it will boot now.
