can't system restore, can't load new printer

I have tried system restore with out any luck. I cannot load a new printed, I ran hijack this, no virus. I get this message in notepad (.shellclassinfo) localizedresourcename=@%systemroot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787 Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong. How do I fix this. I am computer challenged and trying to muddle my wasy through this mess. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you could give me.

I followed the directions exactly from microsoft support. I still cannot restore my computer to any date and I can't install my brand new printer. I bought one printer and took it back because I thought it was defective. I bought another printer and can't install this one either. It just goes in a loop. I have turned off my anit-spy ware, anti-virus and firewall and I still can't install my printer.. What am I doing wrong. Thank you for any help for this elderly computer challenged great-grandmother!!

Try booting into safe mode to install your printer.

I tried to install the printer in the safe mode. It didn't work. It said to fix an issue =the print spooler. The computer would not fix it. Now what do I do. I am about ready to pitch this whole damn thing out the window. I would unhook it and take it in to be fixed but I have a broken ankle and cannot get down on the floor to unhook it and cannot carry it out to the car. Thank you for any help you can give me!
