Flash Progress Bar Problem

This problem started a few months ago and I can't seem to find the problem.

When I upload files to sites which uses flash such as Megaupload or Mediafire, the speed indicator shows something like 20MB/s when my maximum speed is ~50KB/s and even my network meter agrees it's at ~50KB/s

This happens on IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome. I haven't tested it with Opera or Safari yet.
It started on Vista, and still occurs after a clean install to Windows 7 RC.

The processes in Task Manager also shoots up. If I close the web browser, the upload speed is still high, and will only stop if I disconnect from the internet. The physical memory stays pretty high until I restart.

This does not happen on my XP computer which also uses Google Chrome.

Any ideas?

hmmmmm........ i wonder if its the new version of flash thats doing it?
could you uninstall flash, and maybe install a older version?

if the above doesnt work, then the above quote makes me think its nothing to do with flash.

is there any software that you installed when it first started happening in Vista, and re-installed to use with Seven?

Which one should I remove?

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX Adobe Systems Incorporated 05/08/2009
Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin Adobe Systems Incorporated 23/08/2009
Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX Adobe Systems, Inc. 05/08/2009 2.66 MB
Adobe Reader 9.1.3 Adobe Systems Incorporated 26/08/2009 137.3 MB
Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5 Adobe Systems, Inc. 05/08/2009

I got a saved list before I wiped Vista as well

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX Adobe Systems Incorporated 01/07/2009 2.95MB
Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin Adobe Systems Incorporated 01/08/2009
Adobe Media Player Adobe Systems Incorporated 29/05/2009 2.50MB
Adobe Reader 9.1.2 Adobe Systems Incorporated 09/06/2009 203.9MB
Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5 Adobe Systems, Inc. 27/05/2009 7.16MB

judging by these lists then you had a older version installed on vista.

but you would remove both Flash player plugin and activeX.

Do they have upload managers (mega upload and the others)? A software or is it just web based.
Because if they do maybe you could try that and see if it shows the same problem, that way it will help us pin point where the problem could be.

I used Mega Manager on the Vista computer and the speed doesn't so very high, but it shows it being slower. It too over 6 hours for a 1.5 hour upload. However it works fine on XP computer. I have tried it on this computer and it may have been a one-off.

Which older version of flash should I install?

I uninstalled

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX Adobe Systems Incorporated 05/08/2009
Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin Adobe Systems Incorporated 23/08/2009

When I tired to upload using Megaupload site, I needed to install the plugin. After letting Firefox download it and install, The upload speed still goes very high.

ok have you tried the mega upload software?

http://www.megaupload.com/?c=tools

try a upload using that and see if it reports false speeds

The toolbar just does not work. When I tried to upload, it says connecting to server, but upload speed stays at 0. I cancelled and used the site again, which sent the speed flying again. If I leave if and it reaches 100%, the upload will not stop even when I close the web browser. If I stop it before 100% I get an option to press the cross.

The only way to stop it is to disconnect the internet.

Going to try the Manager now

Currently, the upload won't start...

But the upload works on google chrome.

is your firewall blocking the application?

i just tried to upload a file to mega upload as a test.

the file ws 800MB upload / speed 23.5Kbps yet it only took 20 seconds to complete the upload.

erm... i arnt really sure what else to suggest for this.

It means a file with the same name has already been uploaded, and Megaupload just uses that instead or your file.

something is stopping both Mega Upload applications, so I will check Nod Smart Security Firewall

Edit: I disabled the firewall and still nothing

I will check with other computers / laptops and get back to you.

The only difference from when it worked and when it does which I can recall is that the upload speed appears 5KB/s faster.
