two others that were in my temp internet folder yesterday. Every time I turn on the computer a file opens entitled (I think) "Helper" and now my speakers do not work for iTunes or video like YouTube. They do work for my record player played through my computer. I have a HP Pavilion a133On computer. I have gone into My Computer to make sure that nothing obvious is muted. I think that I have a couple of Trojan viruses.

This is a wonderful forum and service for people. I TRULY appreciate any help or suggestions as I am not a computer whiz, and I have spent many hours trying to figure this out myself.

Thanks, Jim

Thanks, Origin! The MBAM log is below. Though the log says that the files infected were quarantined and deleted, my computer is having the same problems, and the two files in the subject title are still in my temp internet folder. I had been running MBAM for the last month prior to coming to this forum, and it never detected those two files.

Hello.
Please update your MBAM database first, then run a new scan.

Newest database should be 2635.

Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {07bb0690-f6aa-47a5-a7d1-8af1e5c07385} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mst123.dll

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Next,
Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

_hphtra07 and IadHide5 seem to be causing me trouble as well CF_download_FF

_hphtra07 and IadHide5 seem to be causing me trouble as well CF_download_rename

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

_hphtra07 and IadHide5 seem to be causing me trouble as well Rcauto10

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

_hphtra07 and IadHide5 seem to be causing me trouble as well Whatne10

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
    Java(TM) 6 Update 11
    LimeWire 5.0.11
    Viewpoint Media Player

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

RegNull::
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-893139456-2655719318-859736620-1008\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\{DDEDB58A-0DF4-0FBE-2282-E831D12D62D3}*]

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:
_hphtra07 and IadHide5 seem to be causing me trouble as well Sfxdaw

This will open combofix again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run.
It may want to reboot after it's done. (It will warn you if it wants to)
Post the resulting log back here.
