Dell Inspiron 1501

my first question here on the forum

right... i have a Dell Inspiron 1501 (i think its 1501) it was given to me because it does not work.

When you turn it on, Lights Light up , Fans start spinning, Hard drive activity. but that's it, its like it freezes before the display even turns on. so i get a blank screen and caps lock buttons num lock etc don't work, as the lights don't turn on and off.

My conclusion: It Crashes about 1 second after its turned on.
i have swapped out the memory, checked the inverter cable, different hard drive. everything seems fine from the outside.

the person who gave me it said it has not been dropped and there is no water damage.

Any suggestions? do you think the M/B has Blown?
i would like your opinions before i go spending money to replace a part.

Are there any beeps when turning on the PC? Most likely the motherboard is spoiled.

No there are no beeps.

Yeah thats what i thought, motherboard is dead.

Yup, for Graphic cards, sound cards, CPUs, RAM etc. A beep code will usually be produced.

But in the case of the motherboard being toasted, no beeps codes will be heard.

I decided to give my dad a call yesterday about it (its my step brother that gave me it and he lives with my dad) and my dad told me that he had been taking it in the bath with him to watch DVDs when taking a shower/bath, a room full of steam and a laptop, what did he expect was going to happen
