I recently inherited a Toshiba Satellite A-45 laptop that when turned on, immediately demands a password. As the previous owner is deceased, I need Divine intervention or your help to get it to boot. I followed a tutorial on YouTube and totally dismantled the machine. I disconnected the battery and also poked with a paperclip to try to reset the bios. I re-assembled, turned on and "Password" started flashing immediately. I am ready to dismantle and sell the parts on e-bay, but maybe someone has a solution? Thanks.

Hello,

The removing of the battery is to reset the BIOS password, not the OS password. In your case, you will have to reinstall Windows.

I tried with an XP disc as I don't have the one for this computer, but it won't boot from it, it just keeps saying password.

Hello,

Boot in the BIOS and change the first boot device to your CD-Drive.

I can't boot in the bios. neither F2, F8,F9,F10 or F12 gets me anything. The password screen comes up instantly. That's why I thought it was in the bios

it is a bios password but it cant be cleared by removing the CMOS battery. you have to build a device to do it,
