Malware doctor and not being able to connect to internet

Malwarebytes and superantispyware won't eliminate malware doctor in safe mode or normal mode. Also I cannot connect to the Internet for some reason so I cannot update those programs. When I go to control panel, network connections, nothing shows up. Usually there is a list of wireless networks that I can connect to. If I go to windows firewall it says "settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. do u want to start the windows firewall/ Internet connection sharing (ICE) service?" If I hit yes it won't start.

I've seen Malware Doctor that comes with Koobface, which uses a proxy and blocks internet access. Follow my below instructions, then reboot and you should have your net connection back.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

In Internet Explorer

1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
   

In Firefox

1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
   
2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.
   

In iexplorer it was already unchecked and in firefox (which I rarely use) it was checked. Therefore, I followed your instructions, but the Internet still does not work. Do you have any other suggestions? Btw thank you very much for your time.

You may need to use a USB stick to transfer tools/log to and from.

• Double click and run the installer.

• After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.

Before I ran HijackThis on the infected computer, I reinstalled malwarebytes and it seemed to eliminate malware doctor. However, the computer is still not detecting any wireless internet connections. Here is the logfile:

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

I'm afraid I have bad news.

Your system is infected with a polymorphic file infector called Virut. Virut is capable of infecting all the machine's executable files (.exe) and screensaver files (.scr). However, the problem is that the virus has a number of bugs in its code, and as a result, it may misinfect a proportion of executable files and therefore, the files are corrupted beyond repair. As of now, security experts suggest that a format and clean install, or destructive recovery if you have an OEM recovery partition, is the best way to clean the infection and it is the best and safest way to return the machine to its normal working state.

Backup all your documents and important items (personal data, work documents, etc) only. DO NOT backup any executable files (softwares) and screensavers (*.scr). It attempts to infect any accessed .exe or .scr files by appending itself to the executable.

Also, avoid backing up compressed files (zip/cab/rar) files that have .exe or .scr files inside them. Virut can penetrate and infect .exe files inside compressed files too.

Recent variants also modify htm, html, asp and php files.

Do not back up to another machine, as it may become compromised. Burn to DVD/CD, or to an external drive which has nothing else on it, and which you can format should it happen to become infected from the backups.

Hello again. Can I put in my Gateway Windows XP tablet of edition Operating System Disc and follow those directions or do I have to follow the directions given?

Also, is this dangerous to do and can I permanently affect my computer or if I mess up can I try the process again?
