Solved Windows 7 Upgrade

Post by Starspy on Wed 21 Oct 2009, 3:16 pm

Hey

I got my HP Pavillion dv9000 about a bit over a year ago, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium, and it has been perfect. When I saw that windows 7 comes out tomorrow however, I did research and found that I would like to have it. However I read in numerous places that for your operating system to be upgraded to win7, it needs to have been purchaced within the last 7 months. Are there requirements to upgrade like this?

Please reply as fast as possible

Hello,

It's not necessary for your computer to be newly purchased. Post your computer specs here and I'll help you see if the hardware will be good enough. As long as your computer runs fine on Vista, it will definitely run better on Windows 7.

You can also get this Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Here are my computer specs, tell me if you need anything else.

I ran the update advisor, and they said that I can upgrade to Win7 Home Premium, which is what I want.

Is there anything else that I need to do?

Hello,

Your hardware specs are good enough to run Windows 7, even using Windows 7 Ultimate won't be a problem. I've been using it since December last year and highly recommend you to use it too.

It was introduced to the public as a final release today, but I got the closed beta version of it from TechNet.

Lol I got it a week and a half early (Win7 Ult.). It was funny to see that the security updates were already ready, way before the OS got released.

What are my options to upgrade to Win7 if I bought a computer with Vista in July of 2009? Is there a free upgrade? If so where can I get it?
