Reinstalled OS what next?

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, but I just reinstalled my OS and, everything went well, but now my desktop is totally empty and I'm trying to connect to the internet. Not sure where to go from here or what to do next

to get on the internet (if XP did not already supply drivers) then install the network drivers (and all other drivers) from the supplied CD.
if you do not have a CD then you can download them from the manufacturers website.
motherboard manufacturer if its custom built PC and network is built in

I did install the drivers and utilities CD but can't figure out how to connect to the internet, plus there's no sound, not sure whats up

my friend as xenos said you need drivers.
if you go to control panel/system/devices you will see which things need drivers
u need to download the drivers and install them. then all the things will work.
About internet now, you need to be more specific, if you have wireless, cable etc so we can help u

I'm not sure what you mean by activating windows. I can see the desktop there's just no icons.

Insert your Motherboard CD and install driver for Sound.
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > And you can easy see witch Drivers you still need ( red x cross or yellow ! mark )
