connection/download problem

connection/download problem
when trying to download anything e.g AVG antivirus, the error message comes up as" not able to detect a working internet connection. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and click RETRY to try again". I am able to connect to the internet and open websites but the above message only comes up when I am downloading. Please help.
