For any crossword fans out there, our only question is "Why wouldn't you download this fantastic, free program?" If you've ever had the yen to make your own puzzles, there's no rational answer. EclipseCrossword may not get you a guest gig at the New York Times or Games Magazine, but it will make quality crosswords of varying sizes in mere seconds. Better yet, your final creations are printable or publishable in a number of formats.

The program uses a wizard-style interface to guide you through the steps of making your own crossword. The biggest requirement, of course, is a list of clues and answers. Once you've got the list of words you want to use, you'll define the size of your grid, and seconds later, you'll have a crossword. How many seconds is entirely up to you: set it as low as five seconds or as high as you can imagine. Aside from your limit, the time the program takes to create a puzzle obviously depends on the size and complexity of your word list.
