X instead of picture

A lot of times I get a notice of a picture .but only thing there is a square with a red X in the corner. when I try to view the picture, I right click on the X then click on show picture but nothing happens .

so how do you get to see pictures instead of the red X

Red X usually means the picture doesn't exist on the server, or the server is down.
