Must-Have Softwares On Your Computer

Post by Doctor Inferno on Wed 18 Feb 2009, 4:51 am

What are some of the must-have softwares do you have on your computer?

Mine:

Firefox - For surfing the web.
Microsoft Office - For work
Adobe Photoshop CS4 - For graphics
Live Messenger - For communication with friends/fellow GP staff.
Live Mail - For Checking E-Mails.
Watermark Factory - For Watermarking images I use in tutorials posted on GP.
WinRAR - For extracting/archiving
Kaspersky Internet Security - AIO Security
SuperAntiSpyware - Security
Malwarebyte's Antimalware - Security
VLC Media Player - Play all kinds of video formats.
Radmin - Connecting to my dad's office computers.
VMware Workstation - To testing malware samples and other software.
Nero - Burning & Entertainment
Internet Download Manager - For downloading, so that I don't have to wait hours to download huge files but instead in a few minutes (E.g. Windows 7).

Does Internet Download Manager better than Download Accelerator Plus(free)?

The free edition of Download Accelerator... if I'm not wrong boosts up to 10 or 8 extra connections, whereas Internet Download Manager has up to 16.

A few software that I like are:
Firefox - Web Browsing + Extentions
VMware - Testing my software designs in a safe environment, as well as testing malware. Also good for playing with linux distros.
Visual Studio - Software Design suite created by Microsoft.
CCleaner - For lack of a better cleaner, I use CCleaner.
Malware Bytes Antimalware - Security
Bullguard Internet Security - Security
Open Office - Free office suite compatible with MS Office.

Why would you need 2 when one is enough?

It can be a problem. They may conflict, changing reg keys a lot.
They tend to fight with eachother to take control of your downloads.
