Anti-virus

Post by jerryscoins on Sat 24 Oct 2009, 11:47 pm

I just switched from AVG, which I had for the 30 trial period. I decided to try Avira Premium as AVG seemed to slow my computer down somewhat and seemed to be a resource hog. Was wondering what you thought of this move. Also I have the latest version of Adware and was wondering if it would conflict with Avira as it also has spyware scanning? And last but not least the Avira has no firewall unless you upgrade to their security suite so was wondering if the windows firewall is ok or if I should find another or upgrade the Avira. Thanks much.

Hello,

I feel that Avira is better than AVG, so the change should be good. AdAware and Avira won't conflict. Windows firewall is fair enough, but it doesn't protect you from outbound connections, so it would be better to use a 3rd part firewall such as Outpost or Zonealarm.

Thanks. Since I am not a geek what do you mean by outbound connections? Thanks again.

Hello,

Outbound connections are when softwares are trying to connect out of the computer.
